A typical setup where commodities are displayed in metal barred windows at the front, the sari-sari (meaning variety in Tagalog) is a convenience store which plays an important economic and social role in Filipino neighbourhoods as it provides members of the community access to basic commodities at low costs.

It’s been almost 5 full months since I left Melbourne. I have truly enjoyed my time there. With all the different experiences I have had through my various involvements, my biggest treasures are the friendships and wonderful people I have met on my journey. One of them is Bronwyn – a bubbly, cheerful girl with such a big heart for people. If you think I’m nice, you haven’t met Bron – I pale in comparison standing next to her. This shot was taken at the end of a Captain Ball day out as she willingly accepted our ‘sabotage’ for doing such a good job as the organizer – such grateful people we are!

Although most people shun the mid afternoon sun, I chose this time of the day particularly because the sunrays act like floodlights which do well in illuminating the tree leaves. And I think this photo illustrates that concept very well. Anyone in agreement (press ‘Like’)?

Wau

The Wau is a traditional Malaysian kite flown in the state of Kelantan. It’s typical size is 2.5m in width and 3.5m in height. I myself haven’t seen one myself but can be found ubiquitously on the Malaysian Airline’s logo and on the flipside of the 50 cents coin. The huge Wau structure shown here was spotted on the outdoor roofing near Central Market.

This is the fabulous Chef Pasta served at Ribs by Vintry, a fine dining restaurant nestled in Damansara Heights. This tomato-based spaghetti dish is a fusion of western and eastern elements with an overdose of porky goodness – pork croutons (common in Hokkien fried mee), pork bacon, and Chinese pork sausage. Seriously non-halal.

Genting Skyway is the gondola lift which connects Gohtong Jaya to Genting Highlands Resort. It takes the stress out of driving up and looking for parking at the peak of the hill and is perfect for those accommodated at Awana Genting Resort.

The Twelve Apostles

After driving for more than 4 hours, I was expecting to catch a picturesque sunset at the famed Twelve Apostles lookout point along the Victorian coast of Australia. When I arrived I was disappointed to find the weather so gloomy and cloudy (this was in the beginning of summer in December). I had heard of stories of the weather changing in the span of minutes so I hung in there for a bit hoping for a change. Almost an hour had past and the the sky still hadn’t opened up so I decided to walk back towards the parking lot. As I reached the car, I saw the sun beginning to peak through the clouds and I promptly ran back towards the lookout point to capture a couple of shots because the clouds took over again a few minutes later. I was glad I raced back.
